ALTERNATIVE BOOSTER TECHNOLOGY

AECI Mining Explosives has developed PowerBoost™, a high-powered explosive booster manufactured from non-explosive raw materials.

The technology is currently undergoing field trials following extensive laboratory testing.

PowerBoost™ outperforms the equivalent pentaerythritol tetranirate (PETN), cyclo-trimethylene trinitramine (RDX) and trinitrotoluene (TNT) boosters. While PETN, RDX and TNT remain dominant globally, their chemical make-up means that they require sophisticated manufacturing plants and specialised raw material storage facilities.

The use of non-explosive raw materials creates the ability to deploy simple mobile modular plants close to strategically placed manufacturing hubs, lowers manufacturing costs and simplifies logistics. AECI Mining is confident that this innovative product will be market-ready in 2022.
