USING WASTE OIL IN BLASTING

Polymeric emulsifier technologies that enable customers to use waste oil in blasting have been developed by AECI Mining Chemicals. This is particularly desirable from an environmental management perspective.

The disposal of waste oil is often difficult and problematic on mines and incorrect disposal can lead to severe ground and water contamination.

The good news is that AECI Mining Chemicals already has extensive experience in the field of waste oil collection and storage. Once certain steps have been followed and the appropriate quality control checks have been completed, the waste oil can be incorporated safely into the emulsion/fuel phase.

AECI Mining Chemicals has the capability to design an appropriate emulsifier to work with the quality, quantity and type of waste oil available.

The outcome is reduced cost in the final emulsion/fuel phase, savings in waste disposal due to the replacement of clean virgin solvents with recycled product, and a reduction in the mine's environmental footprint.
